Ready for surgery!

So, tomorrow is the day.  Surgery Day. DUN DUN DUNNNN. I know I'm hyping it up to be something huge and its just getting my wisdom teeth out.  It's tough to actually decide if that's a "serious" surgery or no. Some people I tell they say, "Oh that's horrible! I hope you feel okay! Hope it goes well!" others are like "Oh! PSH Simple! You'll be fine by Tuesday."  Looks like we'll just have to see.  I'm at that time in the night were I cant eat anything after 12 (its ALMOST 12... I'm kinda still afraid to eat).  It doesn't seem like that hard of a concept... just don't eat after 12.  But I'm restricted to food AND Drink-- which is a challenge for me.  I don't like not being able to drink anything.. WAHH (I'm a baby).  Anyway-- my requirements for my nails-- per my dentist is No nail polish so I've been sporting the not so pretty "natural nail".  I say not so pretty because I call these nails my "training wheel nails".  They look kinda goofy because I'm trying to shape them into the shape i'm a fan of for my nails but they're not long enough to look right.. I'm just so gosh darn inpatient... and frankly I don't really know another way to shape my nails without having them all short anyway.

The boyfriend called me today and told me he had something for me to take care of while I was on duty today.  It was this:

That's right.  My boyfriend brought me a pineapple.  Apparently if you eat a WHOLE pineapple before wisdom teeth surgery you dont swell much at all or bruise.  It would have been great to know he was bringing this BEFORE I downed like 4 slices of cheese pizza (my "last meal"-- I'm so dramatic...)

So I've been trying to down pineapple too.  Im stuffed!  Anyway-- thats all for now kids! Wish me luck!

Well so much for posting chip free nails

So I painted my nails earlier this week but was too swamped with projects and test to post any pictures. Today I was going to post some pictures bc my nails still looked good. Went to take the pictures today and they're full of chips! But at least they're getting longer right?! Sorry kids! Enjoy what you can of these nails and happy Friday!
I'm headed off to light up night in the city tonight. I'm sure pictures will follow

Also a little disclaimer. I'm having surgery next week so don't expect any nails for probably about a week!

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Close Your Eyes

Today I'm posting my new favorite polish by Orly. It's called Close your eyes. I threw a matte top coat over. Doesn't it make you just feel like your wrapped in a huge comfy sweater? That's what it does for me! Enjoy!

Free Wall Calendar!

This is one of those random posts but Hey! I did say in my first post that I would be posting about nails ANDDDDD anything else I wanted to.

So anyway-- I'm addicted to the show "Extreme Couponing" and decided to follow some extreme coupon blogs which I am loving.  They've already helped me save a ton of money buying christmas gifts.  Anyway one of my favorite gifts to make and sent to people are Vista prints calendars.

Absolutely love that you customize these calendars!
So for a limited time Vista print is offering a free calendar-- all you pay is shipping so I think it comes out to be about $4.   Absolutely worth hit if you like the idea of this gift.  There are also other items listed on their website for free including: 250 business cards (which I've actually bought), 25 Personalized contact cards, 10 invitations, 100 post cards, Tote bags, t-shirts, and photo flip books!  I highly suggest you take a look at their website and buy! It's such a great offer!

Thanks to Passion for savings for posting the original link!

Tonight no nails for me, I have to transcribe a 40 minute interview into a Microsoft Word document.  Its so difficult to hear the interviewees voice and understand what she's saying!  Wish me luck!

Do you plan on purchasing your free calendar?

Road to Recovery

Since about May, my nails have taken a downhill spiral.  I've been working a lot and under a lot of stress.  I'm not sure why but I resorted back to biting off all my nails.  Doing this has left my nails short, dry, and red.

Today I'm going to share with you some of the products I will be using to bring my nails back to the condition that they need to be in before I attempt to write any sort of blogs about them!

Day Routine:

Biotin 10,000 mcg Amazon.com $6.44
Biotin helps promote hair and nail growth.  Many bloggers have had great success with this vitamin before so I thought this time around I would try it.  The only downside to biotin is that it takes 3-6 months to see any results. And I am horrible at taking medicine but I'm really going to try to remember to take it!

Moisturizer: Really any type of moisturizer will do for me.  I've got two sitting on my desk right now.  I want to start using it religiously so that my cuticles and around my nails get softer and less chapped.

Sally Hansen Nail Nutrition Green Tea + Soy Cuticle Oil:  I will mainly be using this at my computer when I am writing papers or studying for test.  This oil reminds me of vegetable oil because it is very runny but I have heard fantastic reviews about it.

Sally Hansen Nail Nutrition $18 on amazon-- much cheaper at Sally's or ULTA

Night Routine:

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme: I absolutely love this stuff!  First of all it smells so good.  Second of all it is so simple to do right before I go to bed and It really does work! I've been using this for years and I love it!
Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme Amazon: $1.75

Aveeno Active Naturals Intense Relief Overnight Cream:  I also really like this cream.  Its very thick and goes on smooth but stays on all night.  It really helps my hands feel like they're getting moisturized every time I put it on (unlike some moisturizers that just feel watery).  This does feel a little greasy so thats why I only use it RIGHT before I'm going to bed.

Aveeno Intense Relief Overnight Cream Amazon: $25 (I bought mine at Target and there is NO way I paid $25 but I can't remember the price)

I hope within a few days I have some results and I can post some pictures of my nails.

In other news, as I'm writing this post I'm looking outside and the maintenance men for my campus are putting up the Christmas lights which makes me ridiculously excited for Christmas and mostly for this semester to be over.

Tomorrow I have a big presentation on Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (health care reform! look it up!) so I best be getting moving on the final edits!

What do you use to moisturize and take care of your nails?

Are you interested in Health Care Reform? Or PCORI?

Welcome Back!

This Blog:
Alright so this is try number 2 for a nail blog.  My first attempt at nail blogging was "College Student's Nails" which wasn't a very successful simply because I was just writing posts to write posts.  This time around I plan to write posts about nails but also my daily life.  Encouraged by a good friend I am going to attempt to include as much about my life as I can while still telling you all I can about nails (thanks Amy!)

About Me:
Why hello!

I plan to create an about me section in the next few days to tell you all about who I am but Ill tell briefly about myself now.  I'm a college student-- I'm graduating in May 2012 with a BS in Health Management Systems.  I'm crazy busy with work and school.  I have three jobs on top of 18 credits right now.  I've realized over the years that I am a pretty crafty person.  I love doing crafts and it calms me down.  Last Christmas I started my nail blog because I also really love nail polish.  I combined my two loves and created my nail blogs.  I got a lot of rude comments from my classmates about my nails and my blog which ultimately deterred me from writing more blogs.  I ended up getting sick of everything about nail polish and refused to read any of it.  This semester I found the website Pinterest and remembered my love for nails.  I found myself looking at the beauty section more and more and awing at the beautiful polishes out there.  I decided that it was time for me to get back into the nail blogging world.

Unfortunately my nails were not quite ready for this decision.  They look horrendous.  So much so that I'm not going to show you my nails just yet.  They're very short, dry and broken.  For now I am going to be working on getting my nails back in the condition they need to be in, to be seen on my blog.

Future:
If you followed "College student's nails" you know that I am obsessed with nail art.  I love Konad stamping and the beautiful creations you can make with them.  I plan to show you all the polish I have now, and all the nail designs I have come up with using my konad.  Hopefully I can create some wicked sweet ones that you all will want to do your self!

What are you looking to see from this blog?

Are you excited about my return?

Let me know!
